What is Galactomyces

The main ingredient of the serum is Galactomyces, which is a type of yeast, a byproduct of the fermentation process. Don't be disgusted, I am sure you applied snail mucus on your skin! Galactomyces brings a lot of benefits to our skin. It strengthens your moisture barrier, minimizes the appearance of pores, controls sebum production, improves the appearance of acne, evens out dark spots and slows down signs of ageing. How the Galactomyces was discovered

Its great benefits were discovered in a sake brewery, in Japan. There were a lot of elderly workers who found out that their hands are smooth and wrinkle-free unlike their faces. After many years of solving the mystery, it turned out that Aspergillus Oryzae that is used during the brewing process is a cause of delays signs of ageing. After some time, the scientists have discovered galactomyces, which is almost identical. Since this time, the Japanese and Korean market has been flooded with galactomyces product.

Is it suitable for my skin?

You are lucky because no matter what your skin type is, you can benefit from using galactomyces. That is the reason why it's so popular in Korean skincare products. However, these are the main skin problems that galactomyces works best for: 

• Dull skin

• Wrinkles

• Enlarged and clogged pores and blackheads

• Oily skin

• Closed comedones 

• Skin that is easily affected by the external environment

Also, please bear in mind that galactomyces is a fungus. If you suffer from fungal acne, it is better if you don't use it. It will make your acne worse.

There is another type of people who shouldn't use this product. As you know some bacterias and fungus are living on our skin. Sometimes they are not happy you apply another organism on the top of them. Hence, they try to fight and make your skin red and bumpy. However, you can not predict how your skin will react to any of the skincare product, hence it's best to test is firstly on the small part of your face.

Ok, so producer claims it is packed with vitamin C. Not really, as this serum boasts 3% pure ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and 75% galactomyces ferment filtrate.

What is so special about Galactomyces Pure Vitamin C Glow Serum

As it turns out, the Vit C and galactomyces combo work really well! SomebyMi uses galactomyces water instead of purified water. It's great for our skin because it is rich in minerals, vitamins, organic fatty acids, amino acids, enzymes and yeast peptides. It moisturizes our tired skin and gives it a greater vitality. There is not much vit C in this serum, however, even a small amount can do wonders! Pure vitamin C 3% not only acts as an anti oxidant, but also removes active oxygen in the skin to manage discolouration. It makes the complexion bright and clean. If you use it every day, I am sure you will see a remarkable improvement in skin texture and brighter skin tone.

What's the most important, there is NO artificial dyes and NO synthetic perfume is used. This serum is marked the Green Grade for EWG.

How to use the serum

Korean skincare advise is to drop the serum on the skin and spread with fingertips along the texture line. Also, if you want to create layers of moisture and vitality coating on the skin, you can apply it 3 times. What I do is to wash my face, apply toner, and spread 3 drops of serum on my hands. I press slightly to my face. Then, I put a moisturiser on I am ready to glow! I use it once per day.

My Opinion

When applied to the skin, the serum gives it a golden colour. Don't worry, it does not affect the overall colour of our skin. I can honestly say this is one of the best serums I have ever used. Apart from its great ingredients, the serum also works great. I have been using it for 3 months and I still have half of the bottle. I feel like it prepared my skin perfectly for the summer. I got rid of some light discolourations resulting from exposure to the sun. Also, the product not only pleasantly soothes irritations but also gives my skin plump and glow! I feel like it is a small injection of freshness and youth for the skin. In combination with appropriate peels (I currently use Tolpa Dermo Face Sebio - Gentle Enzymatic Scrub - oh guys, it's just the best!) it makes the skin smooth and very pleasant to the touch. It is not heavy on my skin and does not clog it up.
