Guys, I hope you have already noticed what great benefits for skincare self-isolation brings! According to some experts, spending a long time inside your house is giving us so-called 'indoor skin'. This is a perfect time for yourself and for your skin which needs a rest, needs to be calm and relaxed. Do you think it is happy when you put some primer, foundation, powder, bronzer, and highlighter on it? No, you don't let it breathe, to receive all the best from the fresh air.
I know we live in so busy environment, our schedules are ridiculously tight and all of us including myself sometimes fall lazy with the daily skincare routine. Hence, I'd like to introduce you to my basic skincare routine to get you started and hopefully help you along your way to finding what is best suited to you.
First and most important point is NO MAKE UP. Trust me, your skin will thank you for it.
Here is what happens when you stop wearing make up:
Pores look smaller
Fewer eye infection
Goodbye to dry skin
Fewer allergic reactions
More sun damage
Skin stays younger
A renewed sense of power
Less bacteria on your face
I hope you are 100% convinced now and ready to have a look on my recent skincare routine! (oily skin)
Step 1 - face cleanser
Daily, I use Korean Cosrx Low Ph Good Morning Gel Cleanser. It's my second tube and I can honestly say it's my new holy grail product. I chose it because it's super skin-friendly - pH of around 5.0 to 6.0 which is perfectly good for your everyday wash.
Regarding the consistency, it comes in a clear gel that gives a soft and creamy lather. It foams very well. You just need less than a pea size of the gel. Despite a small amount of the product it removes your make up easily (yes, even the waterproof mascara and matte lipstick!)
It also contains tea tree oil which makes your skin relaxed. After using it, your face is refreshed without being stripped, just supple and smooth feeling!
What is more, it contains some of the botanical skin-purifying ingredients that penetrate deeply and dissolve dirt, sebum, and dead skin cells. AHAs refines your skin texture making your complexion smooth.
When I feel like penetrating my skin even deeper, I choose Murad Blemish Control Clarifying Cleanser. I use it twice a week, in the evening.
It's a very powerful daily gel cleanser (firstly I was using it every day and my skin got irritated). It fights active blemishes, rinsing away the pore-clogging grime, oil, and irritants to help reduce and prevent blemish breakouts. What I like most about it is the oil-soluble formula which goes deep into pores to cleanse very oily skins. Washing away dead skin cells, sebum, and bacteria which are the reasons for the appearance of the blemishes. Also, it contains the green tea extract which acts as a strong antioxidant, giving your skin a healthy look.
Step 2 - Serum
You all must have come across Deciem’s The Ordinary skincare range.
The product I use daily is The Niacinamide Serum. It is made up of a high concentration (10%) of Niacinamide, and additional Zinc (1%). The formulation is oil-free, alcohol-free and silicone-free. The brand says it reduces the appearance of skin blemishes, balance your natural sebum levels and improves the skin’s barrier function. Also, it improves skin texture, calms the breakouts and brightens the skin.
I've been using it for a few months and to be honest I didn't notice so much difference. However, I keep using it as the ingredients are great and it's budget-friendly as well.
Another product from Ordinary I like is The Ordinary Skincare Buffet serum. It's nothing more than a powerhouse serum, which combines a cocktail of Matrxyl complexes in a base of 11 skin-friendly amino acids and multiple hyaluronic acid complexes. All of these ingredients help with anti-aging.
I like this product. It hydrates my skin very well and this is the main reason I use it.
The icing on the cake during my evening skincare routine is The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil.
It’s a versatile oil that you can use on your face and body. It's excellent for balancing my skin and hydrating it deeply. Also, not only it reduces the signs of scars and marks from the breakouts but also improves the look of the old stretch marks.
I believe everybody needs this product because the skin is all about hydrating right? I truly love it and I believe it does what the brand says.
Step 3 - Moisturiser
You probably don't know yet, but I am in love with natural products. I made a lot of research and I know how harmful some of the beauty products can be. Most of them are advertised on the tv and brainwashed half of the citizens.
Anyway, one day I was searching for some good quality, organic moisturiser and I jumped on the Caudalie website which recommended the Vinoperfect Radiance Serum and Vinoperfect Dark Spot Correcting Moisturiser. I checked the ingredients - perfect, I looked on the brand ethos - great, I found some reviews and it seems like this line has captured the hearts of millions of women for its powerful anti-dark spot actions. So I gave it a try and it was the best decision ever!
I always use it together. First serum, then moisturiser.
Regarding Vinoperfect Radiance Serum, 97% of the ingredients are natural origin. It also contains the patented Viniferine that is 62 times more effective than Vitamin C at boosting radiance and evening the complexion.
The brand claims it reduces the appearance of dark spots, including pregnancy mask, acne marks, sun pigmentation, and age-related dark spots, and prevents them from reappearing.
After 4 weeks of using it, I've seen the difference! My marks were lightened and my skin appears to be more radiant.
After 10 to 15 mins of putting a serum on my face, I apply the Vinoperfect Dark Spot Correcting Moisturiser.
The ingredients are very similar to the serum as well as destiny. It prevents all types of dark spots and evens skin tone. Thanks to all-natural ingredients our skin is bright and well hydrated.
I feel like it's a final touch to my daily skincare routine. I can go now and take over the world with Pinky and Brain. I fell in love with this product and I am sure it's not my last one package!
Step 3 - SPF
No matter what the weather is, there is one thing that should always be on your mind during your morning skincare routine - SPF. Using this product is crucial for the health of your skin. You may ask now, why should I wear it when it's gloomy outside and there is no sunlight? Please take it to your heart - UVA, which is the main cause of skin aging is with us all year round, no matter if its sunny day or dull one.
As I always say - it's better to prevent than cure. I was recommended this SPF by Dr. Davin Lim (if you haven't seen his Instagram page you are loosing out!). He said that it was the most cosmetic elegant sunscreen. It means it integrates well on skin so you don't feel and see it at all. Does it work? I think so! I like it's not greasy and sticky so I can use it every day.
